Seasonal Sugar Rush Wreath Card by Anjie McChesney
I just love the elements on this new MCS download and wanted to share the steps on how to create a wreath using elements. I have also shared how I take this topper and cut it using my ScanNCut
Items needed:
White Card
Coloured card to coordinate
Optional extra of using Scan N Cut to cut out image
- Step 1: To make your own wreath is MCS is really easy. For this I chose the lovely sprig, number 6 in the elements folder. Once on your workspace right click and copy and paste. Rotate the second image 90 degrees and move it down the page until you’re happy with the distance top to bottom of your wreath.
- Step 2: Highlight both pieces and group.
- Step 3: Copy and paste this grouped image and rotate to around 315 degrees. Then do the same again and rotate to around 245 degrees. You can make it fuller by going in smaller degrees and copying and pasting a few more times if you wish.
- Step 4: Bring on element 11, right click and copy and paste. Right click and flip the second one horizontally and place on the wreath. Repeat these steps with elements 13 and 51. Bring on element 57, resize and place in the middle of your arrangement.
- Step 5: Then bring on the banner, element 95 and place it across the wreath. I wanted the banner in red to match the berries. So on the effects tab I took the hue slider right to the right hand side to 359 and added a drop shadow. Then select everything and group.
- Step 6: To add text to the banner I chose the word design option on the text tab. I typed Christmas and chose to have it as an upward curve, amd separately typed Wishes and chose the downward curve option for that. I played with the arrows at the side to alter the curve to a position I was happy with for both words. I then used the colour picker to change the font colour to match the red from under the banner.
- Step 7: Once happy with the position, group everything together and print onto your choice of card stock. You could stop here and just mat and layer onto a card blank. I wanted to cut it out on my Scan N Cut and have a shaped mat layer behind it. So here’s how I did that.
- Step 8: Scan into your Scan N Cut using the direct cut option.
- Step 9: Choose the area you want to cut.
- Step 10: I like a white border around mine so I created an outside offset of 2mm and cut it out. Remove from the mat.
- Step 11: I then wanted a mat layer so placed a coordinating piece of card on the mat and went back to the screen and changed the offset line to 4mm.
- Step 12: Glue the top to the mat layer.
- Step 13: I wanted a backing paper for my card so I went back to the collection and MCS and chose backing paper number 10. I wanted the wreath to stand out more so I took the saturation down to 50% on the effects tab and printed it out, cut to size and matted and layer it up.
- A further option would be to print and cut some extra of the elements you used and decoupaged them up.
