How to use your nested shapes to create aperture cards
Hello all, with the launch of Two Red Robins Rose Garden today I thought I would share a quick SVG project as a little inspiration!
For this project, you will need:
Cream and Burgundy card stock
Circle dies
- 1) Start with an A5 card blank. I used cream instead of white as it shows these colours off better. On the top cream mat layer use a circle die to create an aperture. Then place the second mat layer, the burgundy one, underneath it. This enables you to line up the smaller aperture. Tape your next die down on the burgundy layer and cut out the aperture.
- 2) Then line the layers up on your card blank and tape in place the next circle die you want to use. Remember to start with the larger die on the top layer, and go smaller with each step.
- 3) Make up the card with the mat layers using foam tape to give more depth.
- 4) Choose the files you want to use and cut out on your Scan N Cut. Make up all the decoupage layers shaping with a large ball tool to give dimension. I use glue gel but you could also use foam pads in the middle of the decoupage layers.
- 5) Arrange all the elements on your card base placing the flowers around the aperture to create a frame. Place the foreground pieces at the bottom of the card. I used You Rock and Alan. Use butterflies on top of the flowers in varying sizes to give you depth.
- 6) Finally add a sentiment inside the card that shows through the aperture, using the same colour scheme, and add a butterfly if you wish.
Thank you Hannah for sharing this tutorial x
