FOTM Hydrangea Card by Dawn
Dawn from the DT shows us a couple of ways of using the FOTM Hydrangea MCS ad SVG files to create pretty card designs.
You can get your FOTM files here
And watch the YouTube Video Dawn refers to here
- The inspiration behind this card was after I had watched Amanda’s YouTube video on how to get perfectly aligned matt layers with an aperture using the scan and cut machine. Having recently made some samples for the Hydrangea F.O.T.M, I had some printed papers available that I had designed on MCS.
- I made the swirly / starburst background effect by literally sliding the swirl and starburst sliders on two of the hydrangea images (flower heads). I then made a wreath by pacing several of the small floral image into a circular shape and grouped them. Finally dotting some of the individual petals and leaves around the wreath to look as though they had blown off.
- This was then printed and used as the top matt layer of the card when cutting out the hydrangea aperture, using the SVG matt file.
- Then following Amanda’s instructions, I cut out a blue matt layer and card front blank with the hydrangea aperture. (SVG matt file) Then printed and cut out one single flower to place inside the assembled card. (SVG file)
- On MCS I had also made a backing paper using the single petals in a repeated pattern and when printed off I made it into an envelope which matched lovely. And if you don’t have a scan and cut machine, the wreath looks ok on its own.
