Creating Shaped Cards from Die Cuts
Hello crafters, today I would like to share with you how to create a card shape using dies and their matching outer dies …you can create some beautiful shapes when you play around, for this tutorial I am using In The Studio Designer Collection the butterflies I used are from Two Red Robins Tender Love. I absolutely adore the pretty florals and their colours and I think using black card stock alongside the designs makes the colours in the artwork really pop!
You will need
In The Studio Designer Selection dies and co-ordinating reflections
Butterflies (mine are from Two Red Robins Tender love ) but you can use any from your stash
Black card
Construction acetate
Red liner tape
Glue
Glue gel/ foam pads
Kit n Caboodle Pro Cut
- For the card shape … cut 4 die cuts using violet symphony die and reflections cut 2 die cuts using feeling rosy die and reflections Cut from black card the same amounts using the outer dies
- Use a straight edge (ie edge of table/work surface) place the black die cuts along the bottom edge to create the card shape (see photo), when you are happy with the position add small amounts of glue just enough to catch the edges of each black die cut and hold in place until adhered.
- Using glue gel add a small amount to the back of the floral pieces start by attaching violet symphony designs first then adding to the two feeling rosy die cuts To either sides
- If desired die cut more florals and decoupage each flower to give depth and dimension add butterflies and a sentiment. Measure a piece of construction acetate for the card back, score across the top around 1.5cm and add red liner tape. Lay the card front face down along the straight edge of your work surface, place the acetate back on top and hold in place pull the red liner tape off making sure the bottoms are level and stick down, your project is now complete! it is a f my really easy but beautiful card that your recipient will love to receive
I hope you enjoy this tutorial crafty hugs from Kath W 😊
