Use the Overlay feature on My Craft Studio to create perfectly sized cards – by Anjie McChesney
Hello! For this tutorial I want to share a quick step by step on how to use the Overlay function on My Craft Studio.
For this project you will need:
My Craft Studio – download the program for FREE here
Your choice of MCS USB – for this project I used MCS Watercolour Scene Builder Collection
Cardstock to print your project on, I like to use Premium Pure Print
- Step 1, Turn off the grid in the top guides menu and click the Overlays tab and choose A5 Landscape. You may have to also click on the paperclip at the top left so the overlay shows.
- Step 2, I start my scene building from the back and work forwards so I chose a sky first, I used 002.
- Step 3, Then you can start to build the landscape from that folder, and I chose the lovely tree, file 048. To make the tree look like it’s in front I added some shadow using the effects tab on the left. I used a depth of 1 and a blur radius of 15.
- Step 4, Then onto the foreground builder folder. I brought on to my workspace what I wanted to use, I chose 038, the stones, 051 & 055 flowers, 072 the swing, and 077.
- Step 5, I thought the swing needed to be the other way around so to do this, right click and flip horizontal. Then shrink it down so the perspective is right, and crop some of the rope away. Then I made the stones smaller and placed them in the corner and again added some shadow to make them pop. Then I added the flowers in front of the stones.
- Step 6, You then need to group everything together. You can do this by dragging your mouse over everything, or click CTRL and A at the same time, then on the home tab on the top menu click group.
- Step 7, Resize if needed and place centrally in the card front area and print on your Premium Pure Print..
