Paper Making Fun!
I was very lucky to enjoy a very fun afternoon in the Highlight Crafts Academy learning how to make paper and it’s safe to say I am absolutely hooked!!!
When I learned that the lovely Sarah from Funky Fossil would be joining us to launch her Dinomite collection (Dino stamps designed by my husband!!!) I just knew that handmade paper and dinosaur stamps would be a match made in heaven!
For the paper you will need;

For the card you will need;

- Step 1 Gather you items needed for your paper making. These are listed above.
- Step 2 Fill a jug half full with warm water. Also have a washing up bowl half full with water. Add a good couple of handfuls of shredded scrap paper to the jug and soak. As I am using recycled paper I haven’t needed to add any paper pulp.
- Step 3 Blitz the shredded paper with a hand blender until it is the consistency of double cream. To colour the paper, add coloured scraps – for the green I am using off cuts from the Craft Master Apple Pie card stock pack.
- Step 4 Blitz the paper again to mix the colour. If you want larger chunks of paper if you wanted added texture too.
- Step 5 Pour the paper pulp in to the water filled washing up bowl and agitate the water to make sure the pulp is spread evenly through the water.
- Step 6 Take the A5 mesh frame, and evenly pull the frame up through the water collecting the pulp in the frame. Use a cloth places over the pulp, and squeeze any excess water from the frame using the acrylic sheet.
- Step 7 Carefully remove the paper sheet from the frame and allow to dry. You can pop the sheets and towels and once almost dry you can iron the paper between copy sheets to flatten too.
- Step 8 Once fully dry, select the paper you wish to use in your design.
- Step 9 Secure the paper in a LoadNFold and position your stamps on the paper. Lower the LoadNFold lid down to pick up the stamps and ink up with a brown ink and stamp your image.
- Step 10 Cut the stamped image out with the matching dies. For added detail, stamp a secondary image out on to white card and trim around the eyes. Add the eye to the main image using glue.
- Step 11 On to a 5×7 white card blank, add a mat layer of coloured cardstock that coordinates with the rest of the design.
- Step 12 For your next mat layer use a piece of lighter coloured hand made paper. You can create a feather edge to it by using water and gently roughing the edges away.
- Step 13 Stick the mats and layers to the card base with finger lift tape.
- Step 14 For the final layers, add some patterned paper and a sentiment. Add the stamped images using foam pads.
